Hello, friends!
I write you from my lunch break, because there was no way I would have had time to blog, eat and dress this morning. I don't know what it is - maybe it's the change in elevation or something - but I've been sleeping like a rock here in Poughkeepsie. Consequently, mornings are difficult.
Anyway! I arrived in the production office at 9AM this morning as instructed, and was promptly put to work making labels and organizing folders. Can do. Also, I have a desk and computer that are assigned specifically to me, so I'm just feeling all kinds of important. There's a fair amount of paperwork to get done today, and then we (the production manager, assistant production manager and I) need to go move some tables and chairs for the Abigail/1702 rehearsal room to be all set up, as they're arriving tomorrow and will need their space ready.
Orientation and the Tonys were great yesterday, by the way - I got to meet most of the other interns (there are almost 30 of us!), and the actual staff, and we ate pizza and rooted for our favorite designers (who go very little love from the camera, by the way) and watched Neil Patrick Harris be ridiculous on national television, which is always a joy. Nina Arianda, of Venus in Fur fame, won a Tony for Best Actress, which made me so happy! She was fantastic, and I'm so glad I got to see her onstage the day before she won. The other actresses in the running were also amazing, but I have no doubt she deserved it.
There's plenty more I could say, obviously, but I need to scarf some food and get some coffee (it is freezing in the office) so that I can trot back to my desk on time. Just one last thing: you shouldn't expect too many details here about the actual shows NYS&F is producing this summer, because they are, for the most part, still very new and vulnerable works in progress, and we're largely discouraged from spreading too much information about them. But don't worry - I will still be bringing you along for a lot of the internship adventure!
Also, I have pictures...just as soon as I remember how to get them off my phone...
Thanks for reading, friends, and happy Monday!
